§ 4-1. COMPOSITION: APPROPRIATE AUTHORITY.

a.

The Police Department of the Borough of Sayreville, (hereinafter referred to as the "Borough"), shall consist of the Chief of Police, three (3) Captains, eight (8) Lieutenants. sixteen (16) Sergeants and not less than fifty-four (54) non-ranking officers, as same shall be appointed by the Mayor and Council.

b.

The Mayor and Borough Council shall be the "appropriate authority" as set forth in N.J.S.A. 40A:14-118.
