§ 14-15. BILLING.

  • 14-15.1 Date Due, Shut-Off Fees.

    a.

    All bills for water are payable quarterly at the office of the Tax Collector, except in the cases of building permits. If not paid within thirty (30) days payment of arrearages with interest at eight (8%) percent per annum up to one thousand five hundred ($1,500.00) dollars of delinquent charges and eighteen (18%) per annum on all arrearages in excess of one thousand five hundred ($1,500.00) dollars as well as the payment of the appropriate Shut-Off and Turn-On fees as provided in Section 14-14-9.

    14-15.2 Permit for Tapping. At the time any permit is granted for tapping water, the following advance payment shall be required to cover the cost of water during the construction of a building:

    a.

    On a building where the permit indicates a value of twenty thousand ($20,000.00) dollars or less, a flat fee of ten ($10.00) dollars.

    b.

    Where a building exceeds twenty thousand ($20,000.00) dollars, an additional charge of fifty ($.50) cents for each one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars in excess of twenty thousand ($20,000.00) dollars.

    After the completion of the plumbing, the water shall be turned off and not turned on again until application for installation of a water meter is made by the owner and the meter is installed. In any case where the water is left open by the plumber after the completion of his work, the property owner shall be charged a minimum rate of two ($2.00) dollars per month from the day of tapping the water main.

    14-15.3 Deductions. All claims for deductions shall be made in writing to the Council.

    14-15.4 New Service. In a new service, bills for work done or material furnished by the Borough shall be paid before the water is turned on.
